Does A Combination Multivitamin Fish Oil Product Really Work?

Carlsons fish oil multi is a product that seems like a good idea, but when you look at it closely it is really not. Although you would think that making a combination multivitamin fish oil product would give you the best of both worlds, it turns out that you are losing out. There are just too many ingredients in this formula for you to get the high dosage of fish oil that you need.

The addition of the vitamins and minerals is good, but the benefits of DHA and EPA outweigh what these vitamins can do for you by quite a bit. Omega-3 supplements have been discovered to have a positive effect on numerous ailments. They are beneficial to the mind and heart especially, but the also help where cancer, arthritis, and adult onset diabetes are concerned.

Carlsons fish oil contains DHA, which is probably the most important of the omega-3 fatty acids. This formula only has 45mg of the substance which is only about a quarter of what you have to have in order to receive the greatest benefit from this fatty acid. You are going to need a formula that provides you with at least 250mg, and preferably a little more.

DHA is important to the body, because without it proper mental development and adult mental function cannot take place. Carlsons fish oil multi needs more DHA.

This formula contains 65mg of EPA, which is due to the fact that many hold the belief that EPA will transform itself into DHA when necessary. It has been discovered recently however, that very little EPA actually becomes DHA during this transformation process. What is actually true is that DHA, because of its longer chain, can undergo a far more efficient transfer into EPA.

So, Carlsons fish oil multi formula actually has it backwards. The DHA count should be more than doub

le the size of EPA, with about 120mg being sufficient. This formula also totally ignores the benefits that come from DPA. This omega fatty acid is abundant in seal oil, which has led many in the scientific community to credit DPA with the overall good cardiovascular health of the Inuits whose diets center around fish and seal oils.

Carlsons fish oil does not give you enough of anything that you need really, and you would be far better off using a combination of a high quality multivitamin, and a well balanced fish oil supplement. The joining of the two leaves you lacking for what you need.
